I have seen this film It portrays the American CIA operatives as driven maniacs, who want information by torturing victims who they have captured. They seemed surprised when the information that they get is rubbish.
As most sensible people know, a torture victim will say anything to stop the torture and they have a higher sense of what the inquisitor wants by the phrasing of the questions put to them.
