I cannot understand this hatred of Socialism in America or a move towards what is called in Economics, a mixed Economy.  Why will the haves not share a bit of their wealth with the have nots?
It works in the UK and the rest of Europe. In fact,the UK is in the top ten of lenders to America to prop up your ailing system of greed. Sure,I agree spongers and system cheats should get nothing but there is about 16% of the population on Food stamps which cost $80 billion.
A little help, along the way, can and does put people back on their feet, to become contributors,again, to the common wealth again. This survival of the fittest ideal and to hell with those who fall by the wayside is rather disgusting,really and hardly a good Christian ethic.
People fear their wealth, on whatever scale, being taken away from them by the have nots who, in essence, having nothing much to lose. So what do they do? They arm themselves with machine guns, in homes with children!
Will hard working people really risk getting a criminal record and doing jail time just to keep a gun? What protection can they give to their families in jail? Coming out of jail, with a record, is sure not going to get them a good job, is it?
By lightening up a little and giving a little, it may just lead to a much better country than it is a present and certainly better than it is going to become, in the very near future. Drastic change is always resisted, by the ones who perceive a loss to them. If change is not going to come voluntarily, then it must be forced to come. Otherwise the status quo will ruin the country all together and America will become a banana republic, like most of the countries in Africa, where the rulers have everything,the people have nothing and money is spent, continually, on protection. This is not a pleasant environment in which to live.
