Crunch vote on nuclear dump in Lake District -

Crunch vote on nuclear dump in Lake District - Home News - UK - The Independent

The Windscale processing plant is on the Coast in Cumbria,England and they are now needing a new place to dump nuclear rubbish. I suppose that, if a country has nuclear power, they gotta dump the rubbish, somewhere. My gripe, however, is that other countries send their crap to Windscale and presumably it would be dumped here as well.
A plant, on the Coast of the Baltic Sea, in what was East Germany, was sending their rubbish to Windscale, by ship, most of last Summer. This plant was condemned after reunification of Germany and immediately closed. It has taken 10/12 years to demolish it, as it was in poor condition!!
The Dounray plant, at Caithness, in Scotland, is due for demolition soon. Proposals to build a special rail track, costing a quoted £30 million are being talked about. We all know that the price now will bear no resemblance to the completed price!!! I don't see why they can't build a dock, much cheaper and use the same ship to ferry the rubbish down to Windscale,
If a train, which would be an easy terrorist target, is derailed or stopped, with flasks of nuclear crap on board, it would be terrible for Scotland, should they crack open. They cannot place men, guns and transport along the whole track!! It is a stupid idea. A ship, having a collision or whatever would just sink. With a suitable escort it should be safe from attack and this must be the better option.
We shall see.........
