Scots to go on cross-border booze raids as government set cheapest alcohol price higher than England

Scots to go on cross-border booze raids as government set cheapest alcohol price higher than England | Mail Online

Fortunately, this stupid law will take until next April to come into force. But we canny Scots will just get in the car or more likely van and nip down to Carlisle, in England, to pick up our booze!!
It is roughly 100 miles, on the motorway, between Glasgow and Carlisle and the journey can be done in under 2 hours. So at even 30 miles per gallon, the 200 mile round trip would cost about £50.  Doing two runs per day will produce massive profits as booze for resale will be cheaper than in the shops!!  The law states that if you sell a case of spirits or two case of beer, then you are regarded as a wholesaler. Therefore no license is needed.
Cans of beer will become £2 each and can be bought for 85pence or less. So huge profits will be made. Bottles of spirits will rise by about £4/£6 per bottle and, again, huge profits can be made.
Any firm holding a license to sell booze in Scotland after this act comes in can close the doors!!
