Viktor Bout sold arms to both sides in every civil war in every African country for years. he had difficulties hire cargo planes to deliver and so just bought his own, starting his own air cargo firm. Thus he made even more profits.He never got involved in dealing always using middle men.
Eventually he was offered a huge deal, but the buyers demanded a face to face with Bout in Thailand. He should have smelt a rat but his ego and the huge profits took over and he travelled to Thailand.  The whole deal was a sting, by American agents, over a two year period.The Americans forced the Thai police to arrest him and he appealed extradition to America. Vladimir  to get Thailand to send him back to Russia as he is a Russian citizen and was a contemporary of Putin's in the old KGB.This failed as did his appeals and he was sent to America to be jailed.
Now it would appear that America may be wiling to send him home to Mother Russia. I bet that they will want their pound of flesh, for this action, should it actually happen.
