The public sector Unions will not be pleased at a proposed 10% reduction in wages. They have had two, one day, strikes this year, over pay and pension problems. Mind you very few noticed the strikes.!!! One was on the day of the Royal Bun fight and most trade's unionists came to London on buses, paid by their unions, to go and see the Wedding parade! The second one, came in handy, to get to the capital and do some Xmas shopping, for those who bothered to come in the first place. Most just stayed at home and enjoyed their day off. So much for support.
Of course the Union leaders, most on salaries of over £100,000 with expenses and chauffeur driven cars, got their pay as they were not on strike. Their employer is the Union. I can remember only one union leader, Mick McGachey, the Scottish miners leader, refusing his pay during the Winter of discontent in the early 1970's strike action. Arthur Scargill took his wages and was derided for doing so, by Mick, on several occasions.
