Drone Crash in Iran Reveals Secret U.S. Surveillance Bid - NYTimes.com

Drones certainly have become a terrific tool in any spying or war scenario. They are much smaller than aircraft and cheaper too. As there is no crew they need not be pressurised inside. Flying at 45,000 feet, taking pictures of guards walking about, makes them a wonderful tool for spying!
However, if Iran has developed a way to interfere with their guidance system, which flows from USA, via orbiting satellites, to the drone, just like a deadly computer game, then others will do so in the future. This makes the drones obsolete and useless already.
