In general, these modern day Squatters come from Eastern Europe. They learn the Law and get into homes which are left empty, for various reasons. It then takes a Court Order for the owner to repossess the home.!!
That is the Law in England, Wales and N. Ireland. Scotland has different Laws.
The properties are entered, mainly, by breaking and entering, but this action, must be seen and witnessed, for charges to be made. They, immediately, claim that they will be homeless, should they be evicted. They jump to the top of the housing list and can be placed in other accommodation, either rented privately or owned by Councils and may then claim rent allowances to stay in this country.
