The HMRC Collection department are normally pretty good at accepting a payment scheme. It costs them money to employ Bailiffs in England, Sheriff's Officers in Scotland and Court Expenses. it you dispute the amount you have the right of appeal to the Inspector before it ever goes for Collection. If you owe something then make some payments while you await appeals in order to lessen the blow.
