Currently I have a really nice 1.8 litre Ford Focus which goes back off lease in March. So do I get something else or wait a year and try the Focus electric? The way that petrol prices are fast approaching £6 per gallon and very likely to go higher as crude prices rise. Crude is now $98 per barrel and rising, not because of any greatly increased demand but because it is priced in Dollars which are being printed night and day, the value of which are falling like a stone..
So why lease I here you cry. Well no depreciation for a start. Tried to sell a second hand car recently? Insurance,Repairs and road tax are included in the price and although the monthly payments are fairly high they are the same every month with no major surprises over the term. The cost of leasing is also tax deductible, if a person is self employed, in the year of cost and not spread over four years as depreciation is dealt with should you buy a car for business use....
