Barra and South Uist, Outer Hebrides: The beauty of splendid isolation

Barra and South Uist, Outer Hebrides: The beauty of splendid isolation - Telegraph

Scotland has many secluded and beautiful Islands on which you can contemplate your future and just take a rest. Of course you can explore the natural beauty and the wildlife followed by good wholesome food and a few beers in the hotel or local pub bar. There is an excellent subsidised ferry service to most of the main Islands.
You can fly to some of them as well.  On Barra, you fly in and land on the golden sandy beach, tide allowing.  On Skye there is a garden hut terminal 'building' with the key under a brick ! A sign said, when I was there last, "if you need customs facilities, walk into the town and ask at the police station. "
