It is the end of high street shopping ! Too sweeping a statement? Well think about it for a minute. Oops another million Pounds spent online! People have overcome their initial fears over using computers to buy stuff. They are diving in like ducks take to water.
Online banking is very safe. You need a password to start the computer and then at Lloyd's bank you need a number and a letters and number entry details. Then you are asked for letters from a word and numbers that you entered earlier. All that just to see your accounts. You then need a password to confirm any movement of money. The Debit and Credit Cards have a huge long number that you must enter then a smaller one from the back of the card. So let's face unless you are an imbecile your banking and buying are safe.
Buying on the Net is very easy. But the bonus is that you can search for cheap prices or just use Google Price search where you enter the item and it searches for who has it and at what price. Now how would you know that a place in Plymouth has a vase at £10 less than anywhere else and they can deliver at the price.? You sit in the comfort of your own home and tap tap tap away. No bad weather, no driving, no crowds, no queues and no crying kiddies.
Anyone who has a computer and either a Debit or Credit Card is a mug if they don't buy on line IMO. I am disabled and pretty much housebound these days. I use the Internet for Banking by paying bills, setting up direct Debits, moving money to savings and ISA Accounts and inter bank transfers. I move money to my mate's account and he withdraws my petty cash for me from there. That saves breaching banking rules about giving out numbers!!! Everything else is paid directly. I can change dates about to suit benefit coming in so I am never in overdraft which being unauthorised would cost a lot. Every bill is paid on time and that helps my credit rating with home shopping books.
If you use a credit card to make your home shopping catologue payments you can then make a few deposits, transferred from your bank via internet banking, to the credit card when you have it.! This breaks up a big payment to smaller ones. Use the credit card payment period to make several small payments instead of one big one!
