For many, many years the Gulf Stream has saved Britain and Eire suffering really harsh Winters. The Stream originates in the Gulf of Mexico heads out and up the Eastern seaboard and across the Atlantic and down the West coasts of Britain and Eire. It brings warm water and perhaps more importantly warm air with it which acts as a barrier to the cold air coming from Europe.
Has the B.P. spill halted the Gulf Stream? If it has then we are in for Winters like this one and perhaps worse, every year, from now on.
